The Endometrial Lining Scan is a gynecological ultrasound to examine the appearance of the lining of the uterus (womb), called endometrium. The endometrium is a mucous tissue that thickens in preparation for a potential pregnancy to facilitate a fertilized egg to implant. If the egg does not attach, instead, the endometrium becomes thinner and sheds during the menstrual cycle. Abnormalities in the endometrium may affect you in several ways including in your ability to get pregnant. Additionally, if you are receiving treatment, the endometrial lining scan can help monitor the lining’s response to stimulation.
